Imagine this guy hiding in a corner as the hot ash blew in. ...kind of disturbing.

They had plumbing. These are some of the original lead waterpipes from Pompeii
These little lizards were running around all over the place
There are a lot of random stray dogs in Italy. This one was just sleeping in the middle of the entryway to the excavations at Pompeii with people walking by all day. There was a puppy running around inside.
The Archaelogical Museum in Naples where they have some of the plates, cups, jewlery, etc from Pompeii. It would have been much cooler if they just left it in Pompeii.
Of course we had to have some of the best pizza I've ever had while we were in Naples. Every time we ate at a place reccomended in the Rick Steve's book, it was cheap with good food and mostly locals. Whenever we tried to eat at a place we found, it was filled with tourists and overpriced. We deffinately learned to listen to Rick, even if it meant walking a long way through sketchy neighborhoods to find a place.

Nikki getting some "authentic" Italian food in McDonalds in the Naples train station. About 25 minutes later, we found out there was a train strike and our overnight train to Venice was canceled. We had to scramble at 8pm to find a hotel in Naples and book a train the next day. Nikki came through again with her Italian and got us a hotel. We left the next morning for Venice.
